The Democratic National Congress’s Council of Elders said the party will never forget the contributions of the recently replaced leaders of the party’s minority caucus.
In a statement Monday, the party noted that former minority leader Haruna Iddrisu; The minority chief whip, Muntaka Mubarak and James Klutse Avedzi gave their lives for the party therefore must not overlook their merits.
While praising their efforts, he instructed all of his delegates to unite despite recent tensions following a change in the party’s parliamentary leadership.“
The Council of Elders recognizes the outstanding leadership and achievements of outgoing NDC Caucus Leaders, namely Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Hon. James Klutse Avedzi and Hon. Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, who elevated the status of the minority NDC caucus and proved that it is the NDC that has the men and women who have the power to turn the tide of Ghana.”
Their efforts have helped reassure the people of Ghana that the NDC is ready to come to power and rescue the country from the depths of despair and desperation.
Indeed, the NDC has not and never will be forgotten the contributions of our three respected comrades in improving the election of the party’s fortunes,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Council of elders said the party needed to consider reforming the way its leaders were selected in parliament.
In its statement on Monday, the Council said this became necessary due to recent tensions within the party, following a change in the parliamentary front.
To avoid similar things happening in the future, the document signed by Chairperson Mahama Iddrisu says the party is ready to consider a new framework that will govern how the party appoints its leaders to the House.

“While recognizing that the party leadership has the power to appoint or rotate the leader of the NDC caucus in Parliament, as has been the case since the establishment of the Parliament of the 4th Republic, the Council thinks processes need to be improved,’ the statement said.
Party elders also said they had broken the deadlock over changes to the parliamentary front.
