New Patriotic Party flag bearer Alan Kyerematen admits that the deteriorating economy makes it difficult for the party to deliver campaign messages for the 2024 general election.
Speaking during Sefwi Wiawso’s traditional Council visit as part of his campaign tour, the former trade and industry minister praised President Nana Akufo-Addo’s achievements but said the state of the economy will make it difficult for the NPP to convince Ghanaians to keep them in the 2024 general election.
I can say some politics but we all know that times are tough, we are all struggling, we have worked hard but due to the economic hardship, our campaign as a party for the 2024 election will become difficult for us.
“But you see, This ruined our development efforts. So, for the first time in the history of the country, I want to allow the NPP to continue operating, so that our policies can take root while we weed out the bad ones. If we have good intentions for the country, this is what has to happen,” Kyerematen said in Twi.
Kyerematen also called on leaders to advise delegates on choosing a flag bearer acceptable to the whole country.

Mr. Kyerematen said the overreliance on the government to build industries to create jobs needs to shift to a more efficient way of empowering the private sector to create jobs for people.
Mr. Kyerematen noted that as Minister of Trade and Industry under President JA Kufuor, he launched Special Presidential Initiatives (PSI) in four different sectors of the economy economy, which can bring in more than $60 billion a year to the country if the NDC has not been terminated them after taking power in 2008.
