Bayern Munich have suspended striker Sadio Mane after allegedly hitting teammate Leroy Sane following Tuesday’s Champions League defeat to Manchester City.
According to reports, the argument between the two players caused Sane to bleed from his lips and their teammates had to intervene to separate the pair in the dressing room.
In a brief statement on Thursday, Bayern said: “Sadio Mané, 31, will not be in FC Bayern’s squad for this Saturday’s home game against 1899 Hoffenheim.
“This is due to his misconduct following Bayern’s Champions League match against Manchester City. Mané will also be fined.
The argument between Mane and Sane is said to have started in the later stages of the game. When they returned to Munich, Mane was personally picked up from the airport, while Sane took the team bus.
Mane and Sane apologized to the club.
