The promising multifunctional sports facility project in Yendi has been left to the mercy of the weather. The project, initiated by the National Youth Authority on May 15, 2018, aimed to provide a state-of-the-art sports complex, along with ICT, Entrepreneurship, and Counseling Centers, exclusively benefiting Yendi’s youth and the Eastern corridor at large.
Unfortunately, nearly five years on, the project remains incomplete, exposing the significant $1.8 million investment to the elements.

This raises concerns about accountability, governance, and commitment to Yendi’s youth development. Yendi deserves better. This facility could have hosted local competitions, generated revenue, and uplifted the community just like other sports facilities do.
Authorities need to revive and complete this project, ensuring its maintenance and sustainability. The government and National Youth Authority need to prioritize Yendi’s youth, investing in their future.

The Yendi Youth Parliament (YYP) urges stakeholders to demand action and hold those responsible accountable. Let’s reclaim this abandoned dream and transform it into a vibrant hub for Yendi’s youth development and community pride.
