An agreement has been reached between the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) regarding the hiring of 10,000 eligible workers.
These recruits will work in primary, junior high, and secondary education across the country.
Under the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding, the new hires will work as teaching assistants, security guards, and kitchen assistants. The objective of this initiative is to close the staffing gaps within the GES.

This is the third Memorandum of Understanding the Agency has signed with the GES, according to Alhaji Bashiru Ibrahim, Deputy CEO in Charge of Operations, speaking on behalf of the YEA’s Chief Executive Officer.
He mentioned that the YEA and the GES had previously inked Memorandums of Understanding in 2015 and 2018, leading to fruitful partnerships.
“The purpose of this Memorandum of Understanding is for the YEA to support the GES in providing effective educational services. To this end, the YEA is coming on board to assist the GES in some respective areas by recruiting teaching assistants, kitchen assistants, and security guards for schools,” he stated.
Alhaji Ibrahim emphasized that applicants must have at least a diploma in order to be considered for teaching assistant positions in the senior, junior, and primary schools.

He states that this group of employees will get a GHC 1,000.00 monthly allowance.
Staff members who work in the kitchen and security, however, will get GHC500 per month.
He urged prospective candidates to apply for the advertised positions, making clear that the YEA is providing the GES with a portion of its entitlements under the GET Fund.
This will improve teaching and learning for better outcomes in our schools, he claimed.
