The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the State Housing Company Limited (SHC), Mr. John Sheriff Bawah, has paid a courtesy call on the Regent of the Dagbon Kingdom, His Royal Highness Kampakuya Naa Yakubu II, at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi.
The visit, held on Thursday, 27th August 2026, was to formally convey his condolences to the Dagbon Traditional Authority and the royal family following the passing of His Royal Majesty Ndan Yaa Naa Abukari II. Mr. Bawah also congratulated Kampakuya Naa Yakubu II on his installation as Regent and expressed his institution’s commitment to strengthening its relationship with the Gbewaa Palace.
In his welcome address, the Regent expressed appreciation to Mr. Bawah and his delegation for the gesture, describing the late Yaa Naa Abukari II as a great leader and champion of peace and development.
Kampakuya Naa Yakubu II also called for closer collaboration between the State Housing Company and the Dagbon Traditional Authority, particularly in the areas of affordable housing, land documentation, staff accommodation and sustainable housing development in Yendi and across Dagbon.
He noted that the growing population and expanding towns in the Northern Region have created a significant demand for decent and affordable housing, stressing that traditional authorities could play an important role in facilitating responsible land access and development.
The Regent assured SHC of the Dagbon Traditional Authority’s readiness to support genuine development initiatives, while encouraging the company to consider Yendi as a priority location for future housing projects.
Mr. Bawah’s visit therefore marked not only an occasion for condolences and congratulations but also the beginning of renewed discussions aimed at building a strong institutional partnership between the State Housing Company Limited and the Gbewaa Palace for the development and benefit of the people of Dagbon.
