Eric Apeadu Yeboah, the special aide to the sitting MP for Akuapem South, O.B Amoah, has won the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) parliamentary primaries for the constituency. Yeboah garnered 267 votes out of the 574 valid votes cast during the election held at the Presby Women’s College of Education in Aburi.
The primary was intended to select a parliamentary candidate for the NPP in the Akuapem South Constituency of the Eastern Region. Initially, the election was postponed after O.B Amoah withdrew from the contest, and after several discussions, the Municipal Chief Executive for the area, Frank Aidoo, was included in the ballot.
The primary saw Yeboah competing with three other candidates, including Frank Aidoo, Eric Samuel Annor Mensah, and Kwame Ofori Gyau. The election was relatively calm, except for an incident where one of the candidates was alleged to have held some of the delegates in a room adjoining the voting center.

The swift intervention of security personnel and regional executives prevented the situation from escalating. Yeboah won the election with 49.3% of the votes, while Aidoo, Mensah, and Gyau received 12%, 9.4%, and 26.4%, respectively. Tony Osei Adjei, the Eastern Regional Secretary of the party, who supervised the election, stated that the party aimed to promote unity, and refuted claims that the delay in conducting the primaries would affect the party’s chances in December.
Upon accepting his nomination, Yeboah expressed his appreciation to the delegates and called for hard work to break the opposition’s eight-year hold of power.
