In a significant development, the National Service Authority has taken a major step towards implementing the National Service Emergency Response Readiness Programme (NSERRP). The program aims to provide National Service Personnel (NSPs) with basic military training to instill discipline, nationalism, and physical fitness.
The initiative is in line with the President’s commitment to introduce a short paramilitary training for NSPs, as announced during his maiden State of the Nation Address on February 27, 2025. The President’s vision is to equip Ghanaian graduates with the necessary skills and values to contribute to national development.

The Director-General of the National Service Authority, Mr. Felix Gyamfi, emphasized the importance of basic military drills and orientation for all personnel. He believes that this training will help orient the youth towards national development. Brigadier General Amoah-Boakye, representing the Military High Command, assured the Authority of their willingness to provide the requisite training.
The training is scheduled to commence on August 3, 2025, and will last for two months. During this period, personnel will receive composite basic military drills designed to equip them with essential skills and values.
The introduction of military training for NSPs is expected to have a positive impact on the youth and the nation as a whole. It will help instill discipline, nationalism, and physical fitness among graduates, ultimately contributing to national development.
By equipping NSPs with the necessary skills and values, the National Service Authority is taking a significant step towards shaping the future of Ghana’s youth and promoting national growth.
