A graduate from the University For Development studies (UDS), Fuseini Nurudeen projected his dissatisfaction on how Graduates in the country are been treated Ghana to be precise.
According to him,”The rate at which Ghanaian graduates remain unemployed is alarming. There appears not to be any reduction but a constant increment in the canker.
This issue of unemployment has since been recognized as a number one factor that hinders national development, Mother Ghana to be precise.
Over the years, we have seen and heard the cry of Potential Ghanaian youths who graduated and had been searching for gentleman jobs both on the media and on the streets respectively which had not attracted any serious feedback but phantoms.
This menace has caused Ghana greatly in disguise since its future is gradually going a waste.
Reviewed literature may has it that some of the cause of this canker depend largely on the increasing population which leads to higher unemployed rate, global rapid technological change which replaces manpower by the machines, lack of skills or education which happens when the job seekers’ qualifications are not sufficient to meet their job responsibilities and finally rising cost which makes it hard for companies to pay the usual optimum salary of employees when demand decreases in consumption.
Not denying the fact that the above are really some of the key causes of unemployment but stakeholders on the other hand can still device heavenly plans to help arrest this menace to the sells of no return”.
He said,”If nothing is done about this protruding matter, Ghana will soon be tagged as one of the best in nurturing doctors for the farms and farmers for the hospitals”.
He further stated some of the effects of high unemployment rate in the country.
Below are some of the effects of unemployment in Ghana.
One, arm robbery is one of the effects that can’t be overlooked when the issues of unemployment arises. We have encountered several cases where university graduates steal to make a living. This has been long discussed matters on our media day in day out.
Two, prostitution is another effect of unemployment that has hindered the smooth sail of development in Ghana. Culture serves as a way of life and so therefore a country without culture actually has no way of life forward since its future lies in the palms of uncultured sick generation.
Three, under development is another great effect of unemployment. Mashing or blending the above points you would realize that the possibilities of the country realizing its dreams of stable development lies in the palms of a sick and unproductive generation who under no circumstances can bring hope to their people.
He added, “The situation of high rate of unemployment of the Ghanaian graduates can be curtailed when the government of Ghana groom and builds the potential graduates through the mandatory NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS).
The government can achieve the above suggested possible solution by placing a reasonable wage on the NSS monthly salaries with which they would be able to start businesses with.
Also, the government should organize carrier seminars for every years’ potential service personnel so as to help them put to effective use of their salaries.With the above, the government lessens and beats down the burden on its shoulders and paving the way for national development”.
