After a busy period for the Dutch head coach, the Red Devils wrapped up their winter business on Tuesday night. Many players left Old Trafford in January hoping for a quick start to life at United or their new clubs.
With all that have been said, look at all the deals Manchester united were able to get across the line during the transfer window:
THE ARRIVALS
The first person to come through the window was Crystal Palace goalkeeper Jack Butland. The former Stoke and Birmingham goalkeeper has signed a loan deal until the end of the campaign to bring more competition to the club’s current goalkeeping sector.
Former loanee Martin Dubravka initially played the role, but his recall to Newcastle forced the Red Devils back into the market with the arrival of Butland.
The second deal confirmed by the Reds’ hierarchy is a move by Burnley striker Wout Weghorst. Ten Hag is desperately consolidating its offensive options during this window, but with tight funds, loan was only the option left.
Ten Hag’s countryman Weghorst is said to have agreed with the Reds on a complicated deal with Burnley and Turkish giants Besiktas. The Dutch forward has had a brilliant start at Old Trafford after scoring in the first leg of the EFL Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest.
Finally, the arrival of Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer. The Austrian has also become a loan signing as the Reds plunge into the market following the injury of Christian Eriksen.
OUTGOING
One of the biggest deals in the window actually happened before it even opened. Following his exclusive interview with Piers Morgan, Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract with the Reds was cancelled, and he is currently at Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.
In addition to Ronaldo’s departure, United have been trying to get some of their young stars to gain first-team experience. 18-year-old winger Shola Shoretire has put pen to paper on loan from Bolton and will be joined by League One by Di’Shon Bernard, who has joined Portsmouth.
The son of pundit Robbie, Charlie Savage is also set to try football in the first team when temporarily moving to Forest Green Rovers. In the end, young duo Charlie McNeil and Ondrej Mastny joined Newport and Portadown respectively.
The final case is the replacement for defender Axel Tuanzebe, who has been allowed to join Stoke City to replace Harry Souttar, who has joined Leicester. Several other stars in the club’s first team, Anthony Elanga, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof, were all linked with moves in the final days of the transfer window but ended up staying at Old Trafford.
